Peach Chutney Recipe
Peaches are a main staple when it comes to deserts and snacking. Fully ripened peaches drips flavor all over and are some of the juices and tastiest fruits that anyone can find.
Peaches can also be used in quite a number of desserts and they never disappoint. Often you will find that you really do not need to add any extra sweeteners to a peach dessert dish if they are fully ripened and at their peak of flavor.
This is why you should select your peaches from a reputable store and slightly handle them to test how ripe they are and this usually when the skin gives way to a gentle squeeze.
One of my favorite peach recipes is peach chutney and the aroma that emanates from the oven or saucepan as it begins to cook permeates the entire room whit a delicious smell that makes your mouth water.
However, peaches are suitable for other recipes that are not necessary desserts. For example you can take this particular recipe and serve it along with meats, chicken and other fowl dishes. Mostly as a sauce to top meats but can be served on the side as well.

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon canola or sunflower oil
- 1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
- 1/4 cider vinegar
- 1/4 sugar
- 1/2 cup dried cherries or fruit mix
- Preheat a medium to large saucepan on medium temperature then place the oil in the pan, add the cut up onions and cook until the onions are soft then stir in the sugar, vinegar and the dry cherries or dry fruit mix. Bring this mixture to a boil.
- After the mixture comes to a boil reduce to the temperature to simmer and cook for about 4 minutes. You can tell that it is ready when the mixture appears to be a syrup. Add the peaches and simmer while you stir for about 15 minutes. Test the peaches regularly until they are soft.
- After the peach and mixture is done, using a wooden (any will do) large spoon, mash the peaches slightly and everything else in the saucepan after adding about 2 tablespoons of water. You do not need to mash everything so much that it becomes a paste. Having chunks visible makes the recipe even better.
- To finish add salt to taste. Some people like to add a small amount of either pepper or hot sauce but if you go over board there is no turning back, so do this judiciously.
