Being Creative in Photography

Looking for ideas in photography and being creative is sometimes inevitable as reader's block is to writers. However, the list of ideas or subjects that can be photographed are as endless as the number of things that exist in the world. Even emotions can be represented in one way or another. However that's another hub.

For now here are two very simple and fun (especially if you have kids) creative photography ideas.

One of the most common photo themes is to photograph things whose names start with each letter of the alphabet; an apple for the A,a bird for the B, a coconut for the C..hey wait a minute..you're the one supposed to be doing this.

Try using things whose color is vibrant, try using subjects that are out of the ordinary. You really don't have to use apples for the A. Be creative. Using letters is OK but don't over-rely on their use. Use them sparingly.

Another fun project is to photograph bubbles. By simply mixing dish soap with water and having an assistant (kids are great and they love it) blow them into the air. The bubbles will usually reflect light waves much as as rainbow does. Adding food coloring to the mixture creates bubbles that are colorful. Be quick in photographing them and use a fast shutter speed. Not only do they "move" but as you know don't last long. Another tip is pre-focus on the general area where the bubbles will be blown, so you don't waste valuable time focusing so when you're ready to take the photo they pop. Don't forget that bubbles can be created from things other than soap & water. How about bubble gum?. Alphabet cereal, gummy/candy letters are also good, as are the titles given to people in a particular field of employment "J" is for jockey. Look for more creative photography ideas in upcoming posts. Have fun.

By using your imagination and some creativity, your arsenal of creative photo ideas is endless. These ideas and the ones that will be forthcoming not only give you a chance to practice and hone your skills, but allows you to tune your photography skills as well, and always try to have fun while photographing..nothing is worth it if you're miserable.
