Florida Places to Visit
65Being a photographer, I have traveled most of Florida in search of Florida places to visit although not always with the intend of taking photos, but that has never stopped me from taking my camera gear. In Florida
So what do you think that I tell out of state friends when they ask me about where to go in Florida. I always begin with the question: "why do I think that Florida is amongst the best places to live?", We're not called the Sunshine State or rather The Funshine State for nothing.
If the year round warm climate is not enough then the many places to visit and things to do should be enough, not to mention the beautiful locals.
Start your visit in Coconut Grove, much similar to Louisiana's French Quarter, this part of town is full of restaurants, clubs, local hangouts and history. The atmosphere is relaxed yet civilized. You can have a nice meal next to the ocean at many locations, stroll and window shop through one of the many stores, or simply sit and listen to music while sipping your favorite libation.
Next is the famous South Beach or Miami Beach which is how is formally known. The over abundance of clubs and restaurants should give anyone more than enough to keep busy. The atmosphere is more relaxed and swimwear is the order of the day. Get hot? then a dip in the beach is just a short walk away. Here you can also count on seeing one of the many celebrities that call South Beach their home and off course plenty of eye candy for all.
Not to miss is Key West, The southern most spot in the United States. This is not for the faint at heart, since the saying "anything goes" holds true. CAUTION: I do mean anything goes. Party, drink, swim, eat and revel to your hearts' content. Do take your camera to any of these locations but specially Key West which is famous for its sunsets as well as its abundance of street chickens..yes I said chickens, by now a tourist attraction.
Like any traveling plans, make your reservations ahead of time as hotel rooms are often hard to come by. During the winter months hotel rooms reservations should be made at least a month in advance, especially South Beach or SOBE, and Key West.
When here you might just feel like you're in a different country, which on its own is what makes Florida a perfect travel destination.

Hello. My husband is from Miami and it was nice to visit at times, but I've gotta say we love Pensacola. Beautiful beaches, history, and LOTS of photo ops (I too love photography). I wrote a hub on this. I have visited these places you mention. Love Coconut Grove. Following. Looking forward to reading more photo hubs.

Just my luck didn't go far enough south in Florida. I have to admit though there were many photography options in the pan handle where I spent a month also. Having spent most of my life in the mountains, open deserts, and the edge of the great plains I was surprised at the diversity of the scenery. Voted up useful and SHARED with twitter followers.
I remember spending a day "at the beach" in late November comfortable in swimming trunks. I was not able to go onto the sand as I didn't have the right kind of wheelchair. What amazed me most was there were still bees flying from flower to flower pollinating in November.
